Ramadan Begins In Kashmir

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, during which Muslims believe the Qur’an was given to Prophet Muhammad.
Muslims across the globe abstain from eating, smoking, and sex from dawn to dusk during the month. Besides spending more time praying, donating alms is mandatory. Every Muslim has to give 2.5 percent of their wealth and assets to the poor and often give more.
