Boy & Gun:
A young Lebanese boy holds his father’s modern automatic assault rifle, while he talks on his mobile phone geting the latest news during an evening of conflict with the Alawite community, in their home in Bab-al-Tibbaneh, on July 27, 2012 in Tripoli, Lebanon.
Conflict between residents of the Sunni, Bab al-Tebbaneh neighborhood and the Alawite Muslims of the Jabal Mohsen neighborhood has increased in recent months. The Bab al-Tebbaneh Sunnis are supporters of the Syrian revolution and accuse the Alawites of destabilizing Lebanon to benefit Syrian president Bashar al-Assad. The Alawite Muslims accuse the Sunnis of harboring terrorists. The two branches of the faith have been in conflict with each other for centuries.
